12:39 am - Warlocks building castles in the sand. ( In short, I got me a jibby-job, me droogs! )
Things I like about this job, in no particular order:
- It is at Wizards of the Coast, an intriguing place to call my job. It is also not at Microsoft, which is markedly less intriguing these days.
- It is software development. Not test software development. The gods doth smile upon me.
- It is writing managed (.NET; specifically, C#) code. I usually work in C++ (not .NET) but this is just as good.
- It is a DirectX-related job. So, 3D graphics development. Precisely what I wanted.
- It is for a game. This has been the goal since college. A fairly high-profile game, in fact, with the potential to be extremely cool.
- Apparently my on-site boss (Ramon) is also very cool. He seems so thus far.
- Compensation is well within acceptable limits.
Things I dislike about this job:
So it's settled then. Starting Monday, I am officially a game developer. Ambitions met, and finances scraped over by the skins of teeth. Yesterday I was giddy. Today I signed the paperwork with Excell. Tomorrow I'm going to finish some website code and play around with more Managed DirectX, just to continue brushing up. Current Mood: happy Current Music: Tool - Pushit
